In our experience trading organisations face unique challenges; they are inherently entrepreneurial in their philosophy, thriving on entering new markets rapidly, require the support of strong and consistent risk management processes but are constantly challenged to improve their supporting IT systems.  They face key challenges in deciding the most appropriate CTRM solution; whether to invest in a commercial platform that extends the full CTRM domain or whether to focus improvements on supporting specific business functions. 

Often the rich CTRM solutions provided by commercial software vendors may be considered inappropriate since they standardise processes where an organisation wishes to diversify or the level of standardisaation simply does not provide the level of functionality required.  Furthermore, implementation of large scale commercial solutions often present key change management issues that an organisation is simply not ready to address or makes the assesment that the business value is not worth the investment.

We propose an alternative approach to realising effective CTRM, we seek to leverage existing IT applications, extending their shelf life but enhancing them with improved web enabled user interfaces and enriched open data sources.  We aggregate the existing IT solutions with new commercial software investments or new custom IT applications whichever is more appropriate.  Our approach advocates a roadmap whereby an organisation may choose to make incremental improvements to the full end to end CTRM domain or to simply tackle discrete but critical high impact sub-processes such as risk management in isolation.
